Postgame: Pirates 3 at Mets 7 (Game 1)
Last night the Mets extended there 4 game win streak to 5 games as they beat the Pirates at Citi Field by a score of 7-3.
- The Mets broke the 2-2 tie in the 8th by scoring 5 runs.
- In the 8th, Reyes led off with a single. Then Castillo walked on 4 pitches. Then Beltran singled to score Reyes to take the lead. Then Delgado hit a 3 run homer. Then Wright gets out but Murphy doubles and Santos drives him in.
- Every Met (including the pitcher Jonathan Niese) had at least one hit other then David Wright.

- Jonathan Niese started and pitched well through 6. Here was his line:
IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA J Niese 6.0 7 2 2 0 5 0 95-67 3.00

- Sean Green and Ken Takahashi combined to pitch a good 7th.
- Bobby Parnell pitched a good 8th and got the win.
- Then in the 9th with a 5 run lead J.J. Putz put himself into trouble but got out of it with only 1 run allowed.
Mets at Phillies (Game 3) Rained Out
Todays rubber game against the Phillies has been rained out. No word has been said on when it will be played.
Postgame: Mets 5 at Phillies 6 (Game 2)
Today the Mets lost in 10 innings at Citizen’s Bank Park to the Phillies by a score of 6-5.
- Daniel Murphy was 1 for 2 with a home run.
- Ramon Castro followed his home run with one of his own and was 2 for 3 but was taken out as Omir Santo pinch ran for him.
- Carlos Delgado was a pinch hitter and walked so it doesn’t look like he will be going to the DL. After Delgado walked they had pitcher John Maine pinch run for him so he must really not be able to run the bases since they brought a pitcher in to run for him.
- Bad Ollie showed up and went only 2 and 1/3 innings before being taken out. Hre was his line:
IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA O Perez 2.1 5 4 4 6 2 0 77-36 9.97 - Ken Takahashi relived him and went 2 and 2/3 innings giving up no runs.
- Pedro Feliciano then came in and blew the 5-4 lead when he gave up a solo homer to Raul Ibanez.
- Bobby Parnell then pitched a very good inning and J.J. Putz then threw 2 good innings.
- In the 10th the Mets brought in Sean Green who put runners on 1st and 2nd with on out. Then got a strikeout. Then a walk to load the bases. Then he went down in the count 2-1 to Shane Victorino. Got him to swing at one in the dirt to even up the count. Then he threw one way outside and then he blew the game, giving up ball 4 high with the bases loaded, so the Mets lose.

On Wednesday, manager Jerry Manual made a interesting move in batting Daniel Murphy 3rd with Carlos Delgado hurt. Wednesday’s lineup was this:
Cora

Tatis
Castro
Santana
Murphy
Wright or Beltan
Postgame: Brewers 4 at Mets 5 (Game 1)
Today the Mets won in dramatic fashion against the Brewers at Citi Field.
- The Mets scored 3 runs in the first inning.
- Gary Sheffield hit home run number 500 in his career and was the first Mets player to ever hit their 500th career home run in a Mets uniform.
- In the 9th, Carlos Delgado leads off with a double. Then Carlos Beltran strikes out. Then Ryan Church is intentionally walked which brings up the catcher, Omir Santos, who came in when they pinch hit for Castro due to Schnieder going on the DL. Santos hits a ground ball so lightly hit that it isn’t a double play.
- Then Luis Castillo comes up and hits a infield hit to J.J. Hardy and Delgado scores.
- Livan Hernandez was great the first time through the order but ran into trouble in the 5th and 6th. He gave up 4 runs through 5+.
- The bullpen didn’t give up a run after that.
- It only took J.J. Putz, 11 pitches to get through the 9th and earn the win.
Pregame: Brewers at Mets (Series Opener)
Today the Mets (4-5, 4th in NL East) will be hosting the Milwaukee Brewers (3-6, T-Last in NL Central) at 7:10 at Citi Field.
Daily Scouting Report: Jackie Robinson
In today’s Daily Scouting Report, I will talk about what it would be like if Jackie Robinson was still alive.
- He would be 90.
- Most likely, Major League Baseball would not have retired his number on every team.
- Most likely, Citi Field doesn’t have a Jackie Robinson Rotunda,
- He would be harassed by the media today.
- African Americans probably wouldn’t play in any sport which would make basketball very different.
- Hispanics might not be allowed in the MLB which would mean that:
- No Jose Reyes
- No Johan Santana
- No Franky Rodriguez
- No Carlos Delgado
- No Oliver Perez (who I still trust)
- No Livan Hernandez
- No Carlos Beltran
- No Gary Sheffield
Post Game: Mets 9 at Reds 7
In a long game last night the Mets beat the Reds 9-7 at Great American Ballpark.
Box Score/Recap:
Presented from ESPN.
At the Plate:
- Carlos Delgado was 2 for 5 with a homer and 4 RBIs (not by a Grand Slam)
- Carlos Beltran was 2 for 4 with a walk and 2 RBIs.
- Brian Schneider was 2 for 4 with a walk and 3 RBIs. All of which came in the 7th inning when Schneider broke the game open with a 3 RBI double.
- Mike Pelfrey started and went 5 innings. He gave up 4 runs, all of which were in the first. He walked 4, struck out 2 and ended up throwing 104 pitches (56 strikes)
- Bobby Parnell followed by throwing a no hit scoreless inning although walking 2. Parnell might have pitched another inning but the Mets hit so well the following inning that they had to pinch hit for Parnell.
- Pedro Feliciano followed and threw 2/3 of a inning giving up 2 runs.
- Sean Green then game in to bail out Feliciano and he did that in one batter.
- J.J. Putz then came in to pitch the 8th and he gave up his first run of the season.
- Frankie Rodreiguez then came in for the 9th and had some control issues. He went 2-0 on every batter he faced. Frankie ended up throwing 30 pitches in his 1 inning of work. More on that later in the post.

I am giving it to Carlos Delgado for his 4 RBIs although it could have easily gone to Carlos Beltran or Brian Schneider.
Up Next:
Today at 1 PM Oliver Perez will take the mound on SNY.
Postgame: Mets 2 at Reds 1 (Opening Day)
Today in Cincinnati, the Mets beat the Reds 2-1.
- Daniel Murphy hit a solo homer and then later drove in the 2nd run.
- Ryan Church was 2 for 4 with a stolen base.
- Carlos Delgado was 2 for 4 with a walk.
- As a team the mets left 12 men on base. (not good)
- Johan Santana went 5 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run, struck out 7 but walked 4. He was removed after throwing 99 pitches.
- Sean Green relived Johan and threw a perfect 1 1/3 innings.
- J.J. Putz then pitched the 8th. He walked 11 and struck out 1.
- K-Rod (but would like to be called Franky Rodrigez) pitched a perfect 9th, striking out 1 and earning his first save.
